Katrina Demulling is a doctoral candidate in African History and Sociology in Boston University’s interdisciplinary college, The University Professors Program. Her research combines historical, sociological, and anthropological theory and methods to investigate the emergence and development of nationalism in Tanzania.
Mark Simes
B.A., Boston University
Mark Simes is a doctoral candidate in Social Neuroscience in Boston University’s interdisciplinary college, The University Professors Program. His research combines a traditional sociological perspective and neuroscientific inquiry with the goal of advancing knowledge regarding the unique structure and function of the human brain. Recent work has focused on exploring the etiology of autism spectrum disorders within the framework of social neuroscience, the influence of Darwin on contemporary human neuroscience and methodological considerations in functional brain mapping. In addition, Mark is the editor of the Mental Health Section Newsletter of the ASA.
David Phillippi

David Phillippi received his B.A in English from Boston University in 2007. He writes about modern culture and Liah Greenfeld’s theories on the Mind of Modernity blog, and contributes to the New Books in Sociology podcast.
